Wednesday the 10th August 2011 was the date of the official opening of Hidden Treasures School. The vision of Charlene to see children educated in a school with running water, firm foundations and great teachers has been fulfilled for a few months now, however today the Barr’s officially opened the school their daughter dreamed of.
Dave Barr has emailed to say:
“Official opening of the school today. Very moving day, but Charlene was truly there in spirit. So exciting seeing the community and singing and celebrating together what God is doing in Maya, and will continue to do. Cut the ribbon and planted mango trees in Charlene’s honour. A day of celebration, not despair, as Charlene’s legacy lives on in the lives of the children and community. Had a mass celebration dance at the end with some very interesting Irish dance moves also! A blessed day, God is good all the time. Thank you so much for your prayers.”
When they return, there will be a full rundown of the events of Uganda, but until then here are some photos of the day.
