Charlene Barr, had the faith to dream of building a school in Uganda. Through Charlene’s Project, her family and friends have continued that dream since she died in 2010. Working in western Uganda with 8 primary schools, since 2012, we had the vision of building a secondary school accessible to the local children of this community. Charlene Secondary School is now open. Charlene Education Foundation, a Ugandan community based organisation, has been established. Charlene Model Community, an initiative to support the local community on their development journey has been launched.
It has never been the intention that Charlene’s Project would last forever. In fact we have always believed that a point could come where we could create a dependency in those we are trying to help. It has therefore long been the plan that once Charlene Secondary School was established the work would pass over to our Ugandan colleagues. At the end of August 2027, that time will come. Meanwhile there is work to be completed with the ongoing building and equipping of vocational blocks and at Charlene Secondary School.

As Charlene’s Project transfers the oversight of Charlene Secondary School and Charlene Model Community to Charlene Education Foundation – WE WANT TO FINISH WELL.
There is much to do in this last year of Charlene’s Project. With your support we hope to complete and equip the 2 vocational classroom blocks at Charlene Secondary School.
From September 1st 2027 – we will no longer visit as Charlene’s Project but as friends and supporters of Charlene Education Foundation.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF CHARLENE’S PROJECT
